BLACK CLOUD GALLERY - ANNA VLAMINCK

I was born and raised in rural Michigan, until attending the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where I received a bachelor’s degree in fine art. I had a particular aptitude for detail, which led me to a career in medical illustration. I also began the first of my travels with a semester study abroad on the west coast of Ireland at the Burren College of Art. There, with the amazing surroundings and the start to a love of hiking, I began to develop a style in landscape painting, which was nearly as detailed as my medical illustrations, which I have always continued. Discovery of new places and surroundings became a large part of my life and my art.

I continued my travels and broadened my subject matter in paintings by field sketching trips in areas such as Yellowstone National Park, by living and traveling abroad, by driving across the country to live and work in California for a year, and by an extended camping and hiking trip starting by the Pacific ocean, crossing multiple ranges of mountains, hiking in canyons and deserts and driving along the Pacific Coast Highway until it’s end.

I continue to travel as opportunities arise, and currently reside in Chicago where I continue to create artwork and illustration.
